News Elaine Stritch Cancels Scheduled Steppenwolf Appearance Elaine Stritch, the legendary theatre actress, will not appear for an announced March 17 date at Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre Company.

The artist was to have taken part on the company's "Traffic" series, a program of one-night-only affairs featuring artists from various disciplines. The cancellation was blamed on a shift in Stritch's tour schedule.

Stritch has had plenty of practice talking about herself over the last couple years. Her solo show Elaine Stritch at Liberty had an acclaimed run on Broadway, netting a Tony Award. It last opened in London. The "Traffic" appearance was called An Evening with Elaine Stritch, and was described as a "casual conversation discussing her life in theatre and film."
