Emma Stone, who stars opposite Ryan Gosling in the musical film La La Land, wants to get back onstage, but she admits that she’s not ready to do another musical any time soon.

“I definitely would love to do theatre again,” she told the Evening Standard in a video interview. “I don’t know if I’d be able to do a musical any time soon just because maintaining the voice is pretty tricky for me, but, my God, I’d love to do theatre again very soon.”

As for doing theatre in the West End, “I would love that,” she said. “I’m looking.”

She added, “I’ve already done my dream musical, Cabaret. That was my dream. I really don’t have any others that I’m dying to do. Really, honestly, my voice can’t take it, but straight plays—there’s about a zillion of those [I’d like to do].”

Stone played Sally Bowles in the Broadway revival of Cabaret, succeeding Michelle Williams in November 2014. Read her 2014 interview with Playbill magazine about making her Broadway debut.
