News Emmy Winner Gold to Star in God Doesn't Pay Rent Here Emmy Award-winning actress-comedienne Judy Gold will star in God Doesn't Play Rent Here at the Ars Nova.

Gold, who co-wrote the play with Kate Moira Ryan, will begin performances at the Off-Broadway venue Jan. 18, 2006, with an official opening Jan. 25. The limited engagement — directed by Karen Kohlhaas — will play through Feb. 12. God Doesn't Pay Rent Here is, according to press notes, a "comic’s personal journey to find love, laughter and acceptance as a Jewish mother with two kids and a nagging Jewish mother of her own." The production was previously seen at the Montreal Just for Laughs Festival.

Actress-comedienne Judy Gold won two Emmy Awards for writing and producing "The Rosie O'Donnell Show." Nominated twice for the American Comedy Award, Gold is the host of HBO's "At the Multiplex with Judy Gold." Her screen credits also include "Comedy Central Presents: Judy Gold," "Tough Crowd Stands Up," "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and "The Aristocrats." Gold's HBO half-hour special received a Cable Ace Award.
