As previously reported, National Theatre Live will also offer encore broadcasts of Nick Dear's Frankenstein, based on the Mary Shelley novel of the same name. Screenings will begin June 1 in select theatres in the U.S. and Canada. Directed by Danny Boyle, the production starred Olivier Award joint winners Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller, who alternated in the roles of Victor Frankenstein and the Creature. Frankenstein was filmed twice with the Olivier-winning actors in each role.
The encore broadcasts of Frankenstein and One Man, which were originally captured live in March and September of 2011, respectively, conclude the third season of NT Live. The fourth season will begin in the fall; titles and dates will be announced at a later date.
