David H. Vowell latest play, At the End of the Line, just opened at the Two Roads Theatre in Studio City for a five-week run through Aug. 26, directed by Norman Cohen.

Earlier this year, Vowell and Cohen collaborated on Acts of Passion, which was a Los Angeles Times Critic's Choice. Their cast includes Robert DellaCerra, Christine Sloane, Margaret Muse, Tom Druilhet, Seemah Wilder and Francine Russell.

At the End is set in 1974 and deals with a Viet Nam vet just returned home after suffering a terrible war wound. One day he encounters a lover from his pre-war days and discovers she has given birth to his son, only to give him up for adoption. The vet becomes obsessed with finding the boy, insisting on asserting his rights as the biological father, even though the boy has been adopted by loving parents.

Vowell describes his play as "a love story about a forgotten affair, a lost child, and the yearning for what could have been."
