News Engeman Sound of Music to Feature Linda Balgord, Alison Walla, Rob Gallagher, Felicia Finley Alison Walla, Rob Gallagher, Linda Balgord and Felicia Finley will appear in the Engeman Theater production of Rodger and Hammerstein's classic The Sound of Music beginning Nov. 18 on Long Island.

Walla (A Tale of Two Cities, Into the Woods) will appear as Maria opposite Gallagher (Les Miserables, South Pacific) as Captain Von Trapp. Balgord (The Pirate Queen, Sunset Boulevard) will portray Mother Abess, and Finley (The Wedding Singer, Happy Days) will be Elsa Schrader.

Paul Stancato will direct the audience favorite that will run Nov. 18-Jan. 16, 2011. An official opening has been set for Nov. 20. Vic DiMonda will choreograph with musical direction by Mike Pettry.

The Sound of Music will also feature Roger E. Dewitt (Our Town) as Max Detweiler and Nick Cosgrove as Rolf Gruber. The Von Trapp children will be played by Justine Ré (Liesl), Madison Barrett (Marta), Karlie Kohler (Louisa), Nell Worden (Louisa), Lee Eden (Brigitta), Ali Moreno (Brigitta Von Trapp), Dylan Sage Perles (Marta), Austin Pogrob (Friedrich), Jared Ross (Kurt), Daniel Siegel (Friedrich) and Jake Bennett Siegfried (Kurt) with Natalie Seus and Zoe Kaya Perles alternating as Gretl.

Completing the company are John Baker, Janna Cardia, Gordon Gray, Lesley Hamilton, Lauren Lukacek, Joan S. Onge, Kathleen Clancy, Mark Epperson, William C. Bailey, Chris Blisset, Patrick Ryan, Rebecca Stavis and Ashley Flanagan.

The Engeman staging will have scenic design by Jonathan W. Collins, costumes by Janell Berte and lighting by Christopher Ash. The Sound of Music, the 1960 Tony Award winner for Best Musical, features music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein, with a book penned by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse. The 1965 film adaptation earned five Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

Songs from the stage production include "My Favorite Things," "Climb Ev'ry Mountain," "Do-Re-Mi," "So Long, Farewell," "The Lonely Goatherd," "Edelweiss," "Sixteen Going on Seventeen" and the title song.
