Directed by Tony winner Tony Walton, the production — about the bewildering crime of a teen-age boy — will play East Hampton's John Drew Theater at Guild Hall through July 3. Opening night is scheduled for June 11.

The cast also features Sam Underwood as Alan Strang with Kathleen McNenny, Jennifer Van Dyck, Shashi Balooja, Nehassaiu deGannes, Steve Hamilton, Terrence Michael McCrossan, Tuck Milligan, Chuck Novatka, Taylor Proffitt, Jp Qualters, Georgia Warner and Mark Larson.

Equus, according to Guild Hall, "features Alec Baldwin as an over-extended psychiatrist, Martin Dysart, who is faced with the most challenging case of his career, brought to him by magistrate Hesther Salomon (Kathleen McNenny). A young man, Alan Strang (Underwood), who is obsessed with horses, has committed a horrifying crime with no clear reason as to cause. The boy doesn't seem a dangerously atypical 17-year-old and yet, throughout their sessions, Dysart is forced by him to question his own sadly dispassionate life as he searches for the answer — or for a cure — to the boy's lethal psychological chaos."

"Harry Potter" co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Tony and Olivier Award winner Richard Griffiths starred in the recent Broadway revival of Equus, which ended its run Feb. 8, 2009, at the Broadhurst Theatre.

Equus bowed on Broadway in October 1974 at the Plymouth Theatre. The production — directed by John Dexter — won the 1975 Tony for Best Play and ran 1,209 performances. Playwright Shaffer is also the author of Amadeus, Lettice and Lovage, The Royal Hunt of the Sun and White Liars & Black Comedy. Baldwin was most recently on Broadway in Twentieth Century. His other Broadway credits include A Streetcar Named Desire (Tony nomination), Serious Money and Loot (Theatre World Award). Baldwin was also nominated for an Academy Award for his performance in "The Cooler" and won two Emmys for his work in "30 Rock."
