SAN DIEGO -- Mike Genovese, one of the featured performers (as officer Al Grabarski) on TV's "E.R.," will play Willy Loman in the San Diego Rep's production of Death of a Salesman, opening Feb. 5 for a three-week run (to Feb. 28) in the Space theatre.

Joining Genovese in the cast are Barbara Tarbuck, Doug Roberts, Jonathan McMurtry, Peter Friedrich, Bill Dunnam, Manuel Fernandez, Dana Hooley, Tim Irving, Julie Jacobs, Michael Douglas Hummel and Elsa Martinez. Todd Salovey is the director.

Feb. 5, 1999 is just five days shy of the play's golden anniversary. On Feb. 10, a 50th anniversary production of Salesman will open on Broadway.

"This is one of the first plays I came to love," said Salovey. "When I was in high school, I remember hearing the 1950's record of Lee J. Cobb delivering the famous lines, 'I am not a dime a dozen. I am Willy Loman and you are Biff Loman!' It was emotionally electrifying."

Other Miller plays include The Crucible, The Price and the more recent The Ride Down Mt. Morgan and Mr. Peters' Connections. The Rep's box office number is (619) 544-1000.
