News Eric Anderson, Doug Carpenter Cast in Premiere of Roger Bean Musical Summer of Love Casting has been announced for Musical Theatre West's upcoming world premiere of Roger Bean's new musical Summer of Love, which will begin performances April 1 at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach, CA.

Bean will also direct the production, which will run through April 17.

The cast will comprise Eric Anderson as River, Callie Carson as Janis, Doug Carpenter as Curtis, Katrice Gavino as Daisy, Christine Horn as Saige, Scott Kruse as Dizzy, Frank Lawson as Rufus, James May as Donovan, Melissa Mitchell as Holly, Alyssa Simmons as Willow, Victoria Strong as Mama and Michael J. Willett as Coyote.

Summer of Love, according to press notes, "is set in 1967 as the countercultural revolution exploded in the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood of San Francisco with riotous politics, creative expression, and amazing music. Holly, a young runaway bride arrives on the scene, and learns to make her own kind of music amid the hippies and dropouts populating the Golden Gate Park." The production features music by The Mamas and the Papas, Sly & the Family Stone, Jefferson Airplane and Blood, Sweat & Tears.

Roger Bean also created and directed The Marvelous Wonderettes.

Summer of Love will feature choreography by Lee Martino and musical direction by Michael Borth and Michael Paternostro.
