Regional News Eric Ulloa's Reindeer Sessions to Have World Premiere at Human Race Theater Company

The holiday play will be directed by Igor Goldin at the Dayton, Ohio, theatre.

Human Race Theater Company will stage the world premiere of Eric Ulloa's Reindeer Sessions, running December 8–23 in the Dayton, Ohio, company's Loft Theater.

The new holiday play follows Blitzen as he progresses through a series of anger management sessions, hoping to be able to return to his sacred Christmas duty with the other reindeer. Igor Goldin will direct, with casting to be announced.

Ulloa made his Broadway debut in On Your Feet! The Story of Emilio and Gloria Estefan and was seen Off-Broadway in Seven Deadly Sins. The actor is the playwright of 26 Pebbles, librettist of the musical Passing Through, and the co-creator/writer of Nickelodeon's Meet the Alpha Beats. He is also the screenwriter of the upcoming films The Nana Project and Mikey's Army.

The world premiere is part of the theatre's 2023-2024 season, which will launch in September with the world premiere musical This is Tom Jones!, by Mark Brown and Paul Mirkovich. This take on the Henry Fielding novel features a score living in the world of the 1960s British Invasion. Artistic Director Emily N. Wells will direct. Following in late October will be Pearl Cleage's Angry, Racucous, and Shamelessly Gorgeous, directed by Torie Wiggins. Following Reindeer Sessions, Donald MarguliesShipwrecked! An Entertainment: The Amazing Adventures of Louis de Rougemont (as told by Himself) will take the stage in February 2024, directed by Greg Hellems; followed by Jiehae Park's peerless in April, directed by Marya Spring Cordes. The national tour of The Kite Runner will close out the season in May.
