The production, directed by Erica Schmidt, will open July 13 at the Richard B. Fisher Center for the Performing Arts at Bard College.

The seven-week SummerScape festival, featuring eclectic works of opera, music, theatre, dance, films and cabaret, begins July 6. The Imaginary Invalid will play a limited engagement at the festival through July 22. According to press notes, "Targeting both hypochondriacs and the money-grubbing medics who exploit them, [The Imaginary Invalid's] protagonist is the wealthy Argan, who obsessively doses his imagined complaints with costly treatments and tonics. This fixation so blinds him to the realities of family life that it is only by faking his death that Argan learns the truth."

The Richard B. Fisher Center for the Performing is located at Bard College in
Annandale-on-Hudson, NY. For more information and tickets, visit fishercenter.bard.edu/summerscape/2012.
