News Estelle Parsons Will Help Celebrate Group Theatre's 80th Anniversary at Symphony Space Academy Award-winning actress Estelle Parsons, Theater for the New City co-founder George Bartenieff and Paul Green Foundation executive director Marsha Warren will take part in an Oct. 10 tribute to the legacy of the Group Theatre at Symphony Space.

New York's non-profit ReGroup ensemble, founded in 2010 to present plays originally produced by the Group Theatre, is behind the 7 PM event. Additional performers will be announced shortly.

The 80th anniversary tribute will feature highlights from the 23 plays presented by the Group Theatre in its decades-long history. Among the playwrights represented include Clifford Odets, John Howard Lawson, Paul Green, Dawn Powell and Sidney Kingsley.

The special event will also weave together the history of the Group Theatre and the lives of artists like Lee Strasberg, Stella Adler, Elia Kazan and Sanford Meisner, who helped define an era in American theatre.

Rarely-seen, unpublished plays scheduled to be performed include Nellise Child's Weep for the Virgins, Robert Ardrey's Casey Jones and Irwin Shaw's Retreat to Pleasure.
