After a run in Chicago, Eve Ensler will continue to parade her Vagina Monologues across the country, bringing the one-woman show on every woman's special body part to San Francisco's Alcazar Theater Oct. 31-Dec. 3.

Ensler won an OBIE Award for her piece based on interviews with women about their vaginas. Asking such questions as "If your vagina could talk, what would it say?" and "If your vagina got dressed, what would it wear?," Ensler discovered what females across cultures and colors think about their genitalia. Nominated for both the Drama Desk and Helen Hayes Awards, The Vagina Monologues continues its run Off-Broadway at the Westside Theatre, where a rotating cast of female stars take the speeches originally performed by Ensler. Ana Gasteyer, Mercedes Ruehl, and Brooke Shields are currently performing the roles. Robin Givens and Donna Hanover are among readers expected to take part in the weeks ahead.

As a playwright, Ensler scripted The Depot, Floating Rhoda and the Glue Man, Extraordinary Measures, Lemonade and Cinderella Cendrillon. Her Necessary Targets was performed by Meryl Streep and Angelica Huston for the benefit of Bosnian women refugees.

Tickets are $45-$30. The Alcazar Theater is located at 650 Geary Street. For reservations, call (415) 433-9500. The Vagina Monologues are on the web at http://www.vaginamonologues.com.
