Video Ever Wondered What It’s Like to Grow Up the Child of a Tony-Winning Star? On the very first episode of Broadway Babies, we chat with LaChanze’s daughter Celia Rose Gooding.

We’re excited to announce the launch of Broadway Babies, a new video series in which Juli Wesley, daughter of Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley, chats to the people who, like her, have grown up with Broadway stars as parents. For the very first episode, Wesley interviews Celia Rose Gooding, the daughter of Color Purple star LaChanze.

Watch the video to see Gooding open up seeing her mom on a Broadway stage, as well as what it was like growing up with LaChanze doing her vocal warm ups at home. She also talks about being invited backstage at Hamilton. Talk about parental perks!

LaChanze is a Tony-winning Broadway veteran whose credits include If/Then, The Color Purple, Ragtime, Uptown…It’s Hot!, Funny Girl, Once on This Island, Company, and Dreamgirls.
