Ackerman is offering her acclaimed concert act Next to Ab-Normal Sundays, Oct. 7, 14, 21 and 28 at 7 PM. Directed by Barry Kleinbort, the evenings feature musical direction by Paul Greenwood.

Ackerman, according to press notes, recalls "personal stories of her unusual New York upbringing (including her childhood associations with such 'family friends' as Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon), [and revisits] songs she sang in New York hits like Starting Here, Starting Now or in one of her lengthy associations with the shows of Andrew Lloyd Webber....Ackerman's repertoire also includes charming standards, contemporary songs, even one of her own compositions which became the theme song for a 'very special' French film made during her time in Paris."

Song titles include “A Shine on Your Shoes,” “Journey to the Past,” “My Romance,” “Here I Am” and “Where Am I Going?”

There is a $20 cover charge and a two-drink minimum. The Metropolitan Room is located at 34 W. 22nd Street. For reservations call (212) 206-0440 or visit www.metropolitanroom.com.
