Former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell may find her first new job on the West End stage. The producers of the musical The Life are seeking the artist formerly known as Ginger Spice for the London production of that musical, as first reported in the New York Post and confirmed by Life representative Judy Jacksina. Jacksina said Halliwell is being sought for the role of Mary, the impressionable farm girl who quickly turns streetwise streetwalker. She sings "Easy Money." Mary was played by Bellamy Young in the Broadway production, which will close June 7. Jacksina previously told Playbill On Line that most of the major stars of the Broadway's The Life -- including Lillias White, Pamela Isaacs, and Chuck Cooper -- may make the trip overseas. The show's shuttering will presumably make such casting easier. There are no set dates or theatre for the London engagement. The Broadway version reportedly is closing at a considerable financial loss.

Halliwell announced her departure from the popular English pop group last week. The Spice Girls have become a worldwide phenomenon since releasing their first album a few years ago. They recently appeared in the film Spice World.
