News EXCLUSIVE: "Great Performances" to Broadcast Sondheim: The Birthday Concert in November Sondheim: The Birthday Concert, culled from the New York Philharmonic's March concerts celebrating the acclaimed composer and his work, will air Nov. 24 nationwide on PBS "Great Performances."

Tony Award winner David Hyde Pierce (Curtains, Spamalot) hosted the concerts that featured performances by actors who originated roles in Stephen Sondheim's musicals, as well as favorites from the Broadway stage.

A representative for "Great Performances" told Playbill.com that PBS is scheduled to air the concert at 9:30 PM Nov. 24. It has not yet been determined if the concert will be a one or two-hour broadcast.

Sondheim collaborator Paul Gemignani conducted the concerts, which were directed by with Lonny Price and choreographed by Josh Rhodes.

Among the performers who appeared in Sondheim: The Birthday Concert were Bernadette Peters, Elaine Stritch, Patti LuPone, George Hearn, John McMartin, Mandy Patinkin, Laura Benanti, Matt Cavenaugh, Michael Cerveris, Victoria Clark, Jenn Colella, Jason Danieley, Joanna Gleason, Nathan Gunn, Marin Mazzie, Audra McDonald, Donna Murphy, Gillian Murphy, Laura Osnes, Bobby Steggert, Ethan Stiefel, Jim Walton and Chip Zien.

Concert highlights included "Too Many Mornings" (McDonald/Gunn), "Ladies Who Lunch" (LuPone), "Move On" (Peters/Patinkin), "The Road You Didn't Take" (McMartin), "I'm Still Here" (Stritch), "Losing My Mind" (Mazzie), "Could I Leave You" (Murphy), "The Glamorous Life" (McDonald), "Beautiful Girls" (Hyde Pierce), "Not a Day Goes By" (Peters), "Pretty Women" (Hearn/Cerveris) and "A Little Priest" (LuPone/Hearn/Cerveris). The evening culminated with a chorus lining the stage and aisles of Avery Fisher Hall to perform "Sunday."
