Adam Guettel, two-time Tony Award-winning composer-lyricist-orchestrator of The Light in the Piazza and other musicals, has completed work on a new musical, Millions. There will be a staged workshop sometime this coming winter. Millions is based on Danny Boyle's 2004 film of the same name.

Guettel told Playbill: “I think the story has great heart and it has inspired a really different kind of score for me."

Several songs from Millions were heard at Feinstein’s/54 Below in a February 2013 concert of his songs. The audience heard four numbers, “Find Me,” “Feel for This,” “St. Who” and the title song.

Guettel, whose other works include Floyd Collins, Love's Fire and Saturn Returns (recorded under the title Myths and Hymns), additionally told Playbill that he is “plowing ahead” with a musical based on the popular film Days of Wine and Roses in collaboration with Craig Lucas, and an opera commissioned by The Houston Grand Opera based on the H.G. Wells novel The Invisible Man with British playwright, Matthew Hurt.

After the 2005 success of Light in the Piazza, Guettel worked several years on a musical adaptation of the book and film The Princess Bride with original author William Goldman doing the book. The project was not completed, and the writers ended their collaboration.
