"Absolutely. I'm committed until the ship goes down," Steggert said of his involvement in the announced Broadway transfer of the World War II-set musical about a romance between two gay soldiers. He is currently in rehearsals for A.R. Gurney's The Grand Manner at Lincoln Center Theater.

Steggert has been involved with Yank! since a 2007 run at the Gallery Players in Brooklyn. The musical recently played an extended run Off-Broadway at the York with Steggert in the lead role of Stu.

Yank! A WWII Love Story is aiming to open on Broadway in late winter or early spring 2011, according to Steggert. Producers Maren Berthelsen, Pamela Koslow, Stuart Wilk, Matt Schicker, Hugh Hayes, Jim Kierstead, Sondra Healy, Shidan Majidi and Karl Held announced plans for a Broadway transfer in March.

Casting and dates of production for the Broadway engagement have not been announced.

The musical has music by Joseph Zellnik with book and lyrics by David Zellnik. Igor Goldin directed the previous stagings of Yank! which had choreography by Jeffry Denman.

Production notes for the Off-Broadway run of Yank! describe the work as "the story of Stu, a scared Midwestern kid who gets drafted for World War II in 1943, and becomes a photographer for Yank Magazine, the journal 'for and by the servicemen.' Yank! has a score that pays homage to the 1940s and explores what it means to be a man, and what it is to fall in love and struggle."
