Video Exclusive: Watch How Lin-Manuel Miranda and Emily Blunt Filmed the Animated Mary Poppins Returns Sequence What we saw versus how director Rob Marshall filmed it.

“It took us over a year to put that together,” says Mary Poppins Returns director-choreographer Rob Marshall of the animated sequence for “The Cover Is Not the Book.”

Marshall famously brought some of the animators of the original Mary Poppins out of retirement to draw the menagerie of animals for the sequence that served as an homage to the original film.

In the video above, audiences can see how Lin-Manuel Miranda and Emily Blunt—as Jack and Mary respectively—actually filmed the sequence on set compared to what movie audiences see in the final product.
