When it closes, the one-man show — featuring Palmer as a host of theatre divas — will have played 17 previews and 61 performances.

Previews began at St. Luke's Feb. 13 with an official opening Feb. 27. Palmer is accompanied onstage by pianist Curtis Jerome.

The new musical "is a fast-paced musical journey of one man's love of musical theatre and the amazing women that have made their mark on Broadway," according to press notes.

The show boasts approximations of Andrea McArdle singing "Tomorrow," Barbra Streisand singing "I'm the Greatest Star," Ethel Merman singing "There's No Business Like Show Business," Ellen Greene singing "Somewhere That's Green," and (more unexpectedly) Stephanie D'Abruzzo singing "There's a Fine, Fine Line" (from Avenue Q), Kerry Butler singing "Magic" (from Xanadu), Kristin Chenoweth singing "Popular" (from Wicked) and Sutton Foster singing "Forget About the Boy" (from Thoroughly Modern Millie), among many more.

* "What do you do when you're a male performer with a big belting voice and an affinity for Broadway's greatest leading ladies?" ask production notes. "If you're resourceful, you create your own one-man 'woman' musical. Direct from L.A., where it enjoyed an acclaimed and extended run, creator and star Alan Palmer delivers a hilarious and touching look at growing up in the business while portraying 18 different stars of the stage. In rapid succession — and a non-stop turnover of costumes and wigs — he brings to life such legends as Ethel Merman, Carol Channing, Liza Minnelli, Angela Lansbury, Julie Andrews and Chita Rivera and such Tony-winning stars of today as Christine Ebersole, Patti LuPone, Sutton Foster, Kristin Chenoweth and Beth Leavel, all while performing 25 songs in each lady's singular style. Beyond mimicry, beyond drag, Fabulous Divas of Broadway is both reverent and irreverent. A loving and hysterical tribute, this new musical is a must for all lovers of musical theatre."

Alan Palmer is an award-winning director-choreographer based in Los Angeles. As a performer, his New York credits include The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber at Radio City Music Hall with Michael Crawford and the Off-Broadway productions Bernie's Bar Mitzvah and Making Waves.

The production features scenic design by Jessa Orr, costume design by C. Bucky and lighting design by Peter Ray. Palmer is accompanied onstage by Curtis Jerome.

Performances play Wednesday-Saturday at 8:15 PM, Sunday evening at 5:15 PM, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 2:15 PM.

St. Luke's Theatre is located at 308 West 46th Street.
