Producers Gregory Mosher and Arielle Tepper have put their faith in Tony Award-winner Faith Prince to take over for Blair Brown in James Joyce's The Dead on Broadway.

Brown exits Richard Nelson and Shaun Davey's musical adaptation of the short story by Joyce March 12, and Prince steps into the Belasco Theatre March 14.

Brown's dawning project is the New York premiere of Michael Frayn's Copenhagen.

Prince, currently in The Drama Dept.'s Off-Broadway staging of The Torchbearers, will play Gretta Conroy in The Dead. In the musical, Gretta's past love of a boy (now dead) is aroused when she sees his likeness in the face of a fellow party guest at a Christmas gathering.

The tuner, embraced as an antidote to brassier pop fare on Broadway, is directed by Nelson and uses poetry fragments, music hall songs and original pieces for its score. Prince won the Tony Award for playing Miss Adelaide in the revival of Guys and Dolls.

If the Tony Award fates are kind to The Dead, Brown would be the eligible Best Actress nominee for originating the role on Broadway.
