Fall for Dance was launched to attract new audiences for the art form; last year's events proved so popular that, according to a statement, the 11,000 additional tickets will be needed to accommodate the expected audiences.
New York-based artists and companies scheduled to appear include the Stephen Petronio Company, the Martha Graham Dance Company, New York City Ballet, Parsons Dance Company and STREB Extreme Action. Two of City Center's resident companies, the Paul Taylor Dance Company and American Ballet Theatre, will also perform.
International companies on the lineup include the Honv_d Dance Company from Hungary, and the Ballet Boyz and Random Dance, both from London. Appearing for the first time in New York will be Yi-Jo Lim Sun Dance Company from Korea, Coleman Lemieux & Compagnie from Montreal, flamenco dancer FARRUCO from Spain, and three groups from France making their U.S. debuts: Compagnie La BARAKA/Abou LAGRAA, contemporary hip-hop group Compagnie Franck II Louise and Odile Duboc-CCN de Franche-Comt_ _ Belfort.
American companies on the lineup include Seattle's Pacific Northwest Ballet and Alonzo King's Lines Ballet from San Francisco.
