News Fame Star to Sing on "Weekend Today" Dec. 14 Fame on 42nd Street star Cheryl Freeman will perform on NBC's "Weekend Today in New York."

Freeman, who portrays Miss Esther Sherman in Fame on 42nd Street, will be interviewed on the morning show and will also perform a song from the new Off-Broadway musical. Freeman's solo in the musical based on the hit film and subsequent TV series is titled "These Are My Children." Freeman's segment on "Weekend Today in New York" will air on WNBC-TV Sunday, Dec. 14 at 8:20 AM ET. WNBC-TV airs in the metropolitan area on Channel 4; check local listings.

Cheryl Freeman portrayed the Acid Queen in The Who's Tommy. She also played Vy in Play On and Bessie in Civil War. Freeman's film and TV credits include "Hercules," "Fresh," "Dead Presidents," "Dear Diary," "Prince Street" and "One Life to Live."
