Presented by Theatreworks USA, the production will officially open Dec. 9 at 2 PM and play a limited engagement through Jan. 13, 2008. The cast — under the direction of Randy White — comprises Lee Markham as Max, Kelly Felthous as Ruby, Jonathan Monk as Gracie/Alien Green Gorilla, Amelia Morgan-Rothschild as Valerie/Sally-Swims-A-Lot, Karla Mosely as Louise/Eel and Nancy Slusser as Grandma/Lobster Balladeer. Max and Ruby boasts music and lyrics by Carol Hall and a book by Glen Berger. The musical, according to press notes, concerns "seven-year-old Ruby and her mischievous little brother Max [who] want to put on a play for Grandma. But, as is typical with Max, many comedic hurdles arise along the way, 'til Ruby finally calls on her Bunny Scout friends to help them try to finish the play on time!" Song titles include "Things in Twosies," "Cowboy!," "Blue Tarantula" and "Bunny Scout Anthem."

The musical features choreography by Tracy Bersley, scenic design by Louisa Thompson, costume design by Junghyun Georgia Lee, lighting design by Tyler Micoleau, sound design by Eric Shim, orchestrations by Dave Hab and musical direction by Jana Zielonka.

The production, which kicks off Theatreworks USA's 47th season, is recommended for children ages 3 and up. Show times are Fridays at 6 PM, Saturdays at 11 AM, 2 PM and 5 PM and Sundays at 11 AM and 2 PM.

The Lucille Lortel Theatre is located at 121 Christopher Street. Tickets, priced $25, are available by calling (212) 279-4200. For more information visit www.twusa.org.
