News Fiasco Theater's Measure for Measure Premieres Off-Broadway Feb. 28 The Fiasco Theater, the troupe that has garnered acclaim for their imaginative, stripped-down stagings of Into the Woods and Cymbeline, premieres their take on Shakespeare's Measure for Measure, beginning Feb. 28 at the New Victory Theater.

The performers, who are double-cast in roles, follow: Jessie Austrian plays Escalus and Marianna; Noah Brody plays Claudio and Pompey; Paul L. Coffey plays Angelo and Elbow; Ben Steinfeld plays Lucio and Froth; Emily Youngwill plays Isabella and Mistress Overdone; and Andy Grotelueschen plays Duke Vincentio.

The production is co-directed by Noah Brody and Ben Steinfeld. Performances continue through March 16. Steinfeld musical directs the production that draws "from both the church and the beer hall," according to the New Victory.

Here's how it's billed: "Fiasco Theater will illuminate complex characters and perplexing plots with live music and moxie in this tale of morality and manipulation. When the lax Duke of Vienna installs a deputy to enforce the city’s strict laws and walks in disguise among his people, he learns the perils of blind justice. With a brilliant talent for devising new interpretations of classic works, this distinctive ensemble explores the relationship between the powerful and the powerless."

Measure for Measure has set design by Derek McLane, costume design by Whitney Locher and lighting design by Tim Cryan.

The production was developed as part of New Victory's newly-created LabWorks residency program. Visit newvictory.org. The New Victory Theater is located at 209 West 42nd Street.
