News Fifth of July Extends to Sixth of April; Michael Cerveris Joins Cast Signature Theatre Company will extend its popular Off-Broadway staging of Lanford Wilson's Fifth of July two more weeks, to April 6, but loses Robert Sean Leonard March 23 to his commitment to Broadway's Long Day's Journey Into Night.

Enter Michael Cerveris March 25, to play the role of Kenneth Talley in the lauded ensemble drama of '60s radicals reuniting in their Missouri hometown on the Fourth of July in 1977. Jo Bonney's cast remains in the staging, which had already been extended to March 23 at the Peter Norton Space on West 42nd Street.

Fifth of July, part of Signature's season of Wilson plays, began previews Jan. 16. the cast includes Jessalyn Gilsig (June), Michael J. X. Gladis (Jed), David Harbour (John), Sarah Lord (Shirley), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Weston), Pamela Payton-Wright (Sally) and Parker Posey (Gwen).

Cerveris played Giorgio in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Passion for the Sondheim Celebration at the Kennedy Center in DC in 2002. He earned a Tony nomination, Theatre World and Grammy Award (original Cast Album) for his Broadway performance as Tommy in The Who's Tommy. He also starred in Titanic on Broadway.
