Directed by Daisy von Scherler Mayer, the comedy-drama stars Adam Brody, Kristen Bell, Jennifer Morrison, Mia Maestro, Zoe Kazan and Emily Watson. The film premiered in March at SXSW. At that time Vimeo announced its plans to forgo traditional distribution and release the film on Vimeo. The film, from Leeden Media partners and producers Patty West and Chris Schwartz, will be available for purchase for $10 with extras and $5 for streaming rental on Vimeo as well as on the film's website.
"The opportunity to go straight from artist to audience is the future and Vimeo is offering a fantastic new platform," producer Patty West told IndieWire. "We were inspired by Amanda Palmer and Shane Carruth, as well as, of course, one of the stars of our film, Kristen Bell, with her $5.7M Kickstarter campaign. These artists are doing it themselves and going directly to their audience. That’s really exciting for filmmakers."
LaBute's Some Girl(s) premiered in an MCC Theatre production, which opened June 8, 2006, at Off-Broadway's Lucille Lortel Theatre. The play starred "Will & Grace" actor Eric McCormack as well as Fran Drescher, Judy Reyes, Brooke Smith and Maura Tierney.
