Academy Award-winning producer Harvey Weinstein is shepherding the musical that premiered last fall at the Curve Theatre in Leicester, U.K. The production is based on the Academy Award-nominated 2004 film of the same title.

Finding Neverland premiered with a book by Allan Knee, based on his play The Man Who Was Peter Pan, with a score by Tony Award-nominated Grey Gardens and Far From Heaven writers Scott Frankel and Michael Korie.

Barlow, an "X Factor" judge and a member of the band Take That, has penned five new songs for Finding Neverland that will join Frankel and Korie's score, according to a report in the Daily Mail. Olivier Award-nominated playwright Graham (This House) is reported to have rewritten much of Knee's original book for the musical.

"Gary is someone I’ve long admired, and in my opinion, he is one of the finest song writers in the world. I am hugely excited to be working with a visionary director like Diane Paulus and James Graham who is one of Britain’s most exciting young playwrights," Weinstein said in a statement. 

Weinstein has also enlisted Tony Award-nominated Pippin director Diane Paulus to take over the creative reins. Tony Award winner Rob Ashford (Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Evita) staged the Leicester premiere.

Weinstein is now hoping for a spring 2014 bow in the West End. A concept album, which is in the works to be recorded this fall, will be released late this year or in early 2014.
