Classic Arts News Fire Breaks Out in Paris's Op_ra Bastille About 3,000 people were evacuated from Paris's Op_ra Bastille on December 22 when a fire broke out, the Associated Press reports.
The fire started suddenly during the third act of the ballet Sleeping Beauty.

The fire was put out in about 90 minutes. No one was injured, and the opera house suffered no major damage. The opera house said that performances would resume the next day.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.

The Op_ra Bastille, located in an east Paris suburb, was designed by architect Carlos Ott and opened in 1989.
