Atlantic Theater Company's first production of its 30th anniversary season, Obie Award winner Caryl Churchill's landmark play Cloud Nine, began previews Sept. 16 prior to an official opening Oct. 5 at the Linda Gross Theater.
Directed by James Macdonald, the limited engagement will continue through Nov. 1.
"Set in colonial Africa and 1979 London," Cloud Nine, according to press notes, "is about power, politics, family, Queen Victoria and sex." This modern classic has not been seen in a major New York production since 1981, when it ran for over two years.
