The upcoming world premiere musical Gatsby has extended its run at Massachusetts' American Repertory Theater. Performances are set to begin May 23, and will now continue through August 3. Opening night is June 5. The production was previously set to play through July 21.

Based on F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby (and not to be confused with the separate musical adaptation of that work that recently opened on Broadway), Gatsby features a book by Pulitzer Prize winner Martyna Majok (Cost of Living) and a score by Florence Welch (Florence + The Machine) and Thomas Barlett (Doveman). Rachel Chavkin (Hadestown) is directing.

The cast will be led by Isaac Powell as Jay Gatsby, Charlotte MacInnes as Daisy, Ben Levi Ross as Nick, Cory Jeacoma as Tom, Eleri Ward as Jordan, Solea Pfeiffer as Myrtle, Matthew Amira as Wilson, and Adam Grupper as Wolfsheim.

The ensemble will include Nick Bailey, Kailey Boyle, Runako Campbell, Jada Clark, Joshua Grosso, Alex Haquia, Gabriel Hyman, Matt Kizer, Lorenzo Pagano, Chris Ralph, Christopher M. Ramirez, Shea Renne, Aliza Russell, Shota Sekiguchi, and Maya Sistruck. Sam Simahk will be the standby for Jay Gatsby, with swings Cameron Burke, Jacob Burns, Mia DeWeese, Paige Krumbach, and Justin Gregory Lopez rounding out the company.

The production will feature choreography by Sonya Tayeh, music supervision by Kimberly Grigsby (Days of Wine and Roses), music direction by Wiley DeWeese (The Lightning Thief), scenic design by Mimi Lien (The Great Comet), costume design by Sandy Powell (The Young Victoria), lighting design by Alan Edwards (Harry Clark), and sound design by Tony Gayle (My Neighbour Totoro). Jhanaë Bonnick will serve as production stage manager with Aaron Elgart, Heather Englander, and Alex Luong as assistant stage managers. Casting is by Claire Burke of Tara Rubin Casting, Duncan Stewart of ARC, and Patrick Maravilla.

The musical has been in development since at least 2021, with the Massachusetts run produced by special arrangement with Amanda Ghost and Len Blavatnik for Unigram/Access Entertainment, and Jordan Roth, in association with Robert Fox. Hannah Giannoulis is co-producer.
