News Florida's Gulfshore Playhouse Will Stage Life x 3 and Married Alive! in 2007-08 Gulfshore Playhouse, the young producing organization on Florida's southwest coast, is still reaching for its dream of a permanent home in the Naples area, but that isn't keeping the Equity troupe from producing two full-scale productions in 2007-08.

Life x 3 by Yasmina Reza (who penned the popular Art) and the Florida premiere of the regional hit musical comedy, Married Alive!, will be staged at locations in both Lee and Collier counties, capturing the imaginations of the theatre-going base that Gulfshore Playhouse wants to make its future audience. The company previously announced a wish to construct a new 550-seat theatre in Estero, FL, north of Naples. That long journey includes zoning approval, fundraising and more.

Unlike the previous Gulfshore Playhouse productions, (David Mamet's Oleanna and the original musical, Romeo and Juliet Redefined), this season's offerings will run for 10 days each in both Ft. Myers and Naples.

"We are delighted to have finally secured theatre space for a sufficient length of time to be able to offer both Lee and Collier County audiences an extremely high quality of professional theatre at affordable prices," stated Bob Harden, Gulfshore Playhouse chairman of the board.

Life x 3, the domestic comedy about unexpected guests, played out in three different scenarios, will be performed Oct. 4-13 at the Alliance for the Arts in Fort Myers, FL, and Oct. 18-27 at The Norris Center in Naples, FL.

The cast will feature Bruce Somerville and Beth Hylton, with more to be announced. Married Alive!, by lyricist-librettist Sean Grennan and composer Leah Okimoto, has been popular in productions in Kansas City, Chicago, Virginia and Nebraska and is likely to blossom beyond that — it's got a small cast (playing a pair of newlyweds and a pair of "oldyweds"), an amiable marriage theme and songs that are touching and comic.

Married Alive! will play March 6-20, 2008, at the Alliance in Ft. Myers, and March 27-April 5, 2008, at the Norris Center, Naples.

"The choice of plays and performers reflects our unwavering commitment to offer southwest Florida exciting new and/or rarely seen plays performed by some of the best professional actors in America, as well as to create a much-needed platform for new playwrights and composers," stated founder and producing artistic director Kristen Coury.

Casting and other creative team members will be announced at a later date. For more information and to order tickets, visit www.gulfshoreplayhouse.org or call toll free (866) 811-4111.
