News Flower Drum Song Star Celebrates "Making It on Broadway" Tome June 10 Jose Llana, who co-starred with Lea Salonga in the recent Flower Drum Song revival, will be on hand for a June 10 evening celebrating the release of the new theatre book "Making It on Broadway."

The evening at the Lincoln Center Barnes & Noble bookstore will feature live performances, discussions and signings of the new Allworth Press book. Singer-actor Llana will be joined by the book's co-author, Jodie Langel, for the 7 PM event. "Making It on Broadway: Actors' Tales of Climbing to the Top" is an extremely candid and often hysterical look at working in the theatre and features interviews with more than 150 Broadway performers. Authors David Wienir and Jodie Langel — Langel portrayed Cosette and Eponine in Broadway's Les Misérables — spoke to such theatre performers as Chita Rivera, Donna Murphy, Faith Prince, Randy Graff, Jason Alexander, Gary Beach, Brian d'Arcy James, Emily Skinner and Marissa Jaret Winokur. The book is divided into numerous sections dealing with such topics as surviving the first audition, the Disneyfication of Broadway, backstage and onstage antics and the reality of a life in the theatre. Performers open up about returning to temp jobs after playing leads roles on Broadway, "the curse" of a Tony Award and the sacrifices made for a life on the stage. "Making It on Broadway" will hit stores May 3.

The Barnes & Noble bookstore is located in Manhattan at 1972 Broadway. A similar event will be held May 10 at 6 PM at the Drama Bookshop (250 West 40th Street). That evening will feature Jodie Langel and Bat Boy's Doug Storm.
