"If it ain't broke, don't potchka with it."

It may not translate perfectly, but the folks at the Folksbiene Yiddish Theatre certainly followed its logic as they brought back Kids and Yiddish to Theatre Four. The production which opened Dec. 3 is set to close as scheduled Jan. 21. This year the musical revue was titled Kids and Yiddish 2000.

The event, which is 90% English and 10% Yiddish, mingles a classic Yiddish fables with song, interactive games, puppets, and today's pop culture. Conceived and written by Zalmen Mlotek, Joanne Borts and Michael Fox, the production features Jenny Romain, Fox, Lisa Fishman, Margot Leverett and the kids Rebecca Levy, Avram Mlotek, Marissa Mlotek and Elisha Mlotek.

Kids and Yiddish ran in repertory with Folksbiene's other production, An American Family, a new Yiddish adaptation of Sylvia Regan's 1940 drama Morning Star, also closing Jan. 21.

For tickets to either production at Theatre Four, 424 West 55th St., call Telecharge at (212) 239-6200 or visit their website at www.folksbiene.org. — by Ernio Hernandez
