News Follies Star Ron Raines Will Join Cast of Broadway's Newsies Ron Raines, who received a Tony nomination for his performance in the recent Broadway revival of Follies, will temporarily join the cast of the critically acclaimed new musical Newsies Oct. 9 at the Nederlander Theatre.

The singing actor will play the role of Joseph Pulitzer through Dec. 16. He is stepping in for John Dossett, who will be starring in Giant at the Public Theater.

Ron Raines has also been seen on Broadway in Chicago, Show Boat and Teddy and Alice. He is a three-time Emmy nominee for his work on "Guiding Light."

Newsies was nominated for eight Tony Awards, including Best Book (Harvey Fierstein), Best Score (Jack Feldman and Alan Menken), Best Actor (Jeremy Jordan), Best Direction of a Musical (Jeff Calhoun) and Best Choreography (Christopher Gattelli). It won awards for Best Score and Best Choreography.

The Broadway company of Newsies  also features Corey Cott as Jack Kelly, Kara Lindsay as Katherine Plumber, Ben Fankhauser as Davey and Andrew Keenan-Bolger as Crutchie.
