News "Food for Thought" Reading Features Titanic Star Feb. 24 Alma Cuervo, who created the role of Ida Straus in the original Broadway cast of Titanic, will be part of the Feb. 24 "Food for Thought" reading series.

"Food for Thought" is a midday play reading series presented by artistic director Susan Charlotte and the National Arts Club. The Feb. 24 afternoon will feature Anthony Minghella's Cigarettes and Chocolate under the direction of Austin Pendleton. Cuervo will be joined onstage by Armand Schultz, Kevin Stapleton, Lizbeth McKay, Saccaro Santiago and Michael Citriniti. Cigarettes and Chocolate was first broadcast in 1988 by BBC Radio 4. The play, according to production notes, "revolves around a woman who refuses to speak. As the other characters (her husband, who's had an affair, her woman friends and a male friend who is in love with her) speak to her and to each other, we learn about each of them and their longings."

Alma Cuervo was most recently on Broadway in the Tony-winning revival of Cabaret. Her many other Broadway credits include Titanic, Beauty and the Beast, Dancing at Lughnasa, The Secret Rapture, Ghetto, The Heidi Chronicles, A Month of Sundays, Quilters, Is There Life After High School?, Censored Scenes from King Kong, Bedroom Farce and Once in a Lifetime.

The National Arts Club is located at 15 Gramercy Park South at 20th Street. Tickets, priced at $49, are available by calling (212) 362-2560. Lunch begins at 12:30 PM with the reading at 1:30 PM. For more information visit www.foodforthoughtproductions.com.
