News Food for Thought Season Ends May 28 with Seldes, McMartin and Kenzler The acclaimed Food for Thought reading series ends its current season May 28 with three one-act plays.

Afternoon theatregoers will be treated to Joyce Carol Oates' Gulf War, Susan Charlotte's adaptation of Chekhov's Death of a Clerk and Charlotte's What She Didn't Say. All three plays demonstrate the theatrical device of "breaking the fourth wall." Those taking part in the reading include actors Marian Seldes, John McMartin and Karl Kenzler. Author Oates will also be on hand for the reading. Lunch begins at 12:30 PM with the reading at 1:30 PM. A wine-and-cheese reception will follow the reading as well.

Food for Thought Lunch Hour Theatre — run by artistic director Susan Charlotte — plays the National Arts Club, located in Manhattan at 15 Gramercy Park South. Tickets, priced at $45, include the one-act play reading, a question-and-answer session and a light sandwich lunch.
