News Food on the Aisle, Five Short Musicals About Cooking, to Have Free Staged Reading Food on the Aisle, a new series of five short musicals about the many ways in which humans love food, will have a staged reading Oct. 5 at 4:30 and 8 PM at the Hudson Guild Theatre.

Admission to the reading is free, although reservations are required. The show has music by Gerald Stockstill and book and lyrics by Donna Kaz, who will direct the reading.

The cast will feature Nate Buccieri, who will also serve as music director; Valerie Fagan; Michael Thomas Holmes; Erin Markey; and Hannah Wolfe.

According to the creators, the musicals will cover "food network wannabes, dinner party menus, cooking as therapy, eating out and celebrity chefs."

Food on the Aisle came out of No Trouble At All, a ten-minute musical Kaz and Stockstill wrote together while in the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop. That musical had a reading at the New York Musical Theatre Festival in 2004.

Kaz has written the plays Performing Tribute: Stories of 9/11 and Joan and the musical Live! Nude! Girl! Stockstill's musicals include Too Good to be True and Naughty/Nice. The Hudson Guild Theatre is located at 441 West 26th Street. For reservations, email [email protected].
