News Former Wicked Star to Offer a Block Party! June 26 and 27 Stephanie J. Block, who will play the title role in the upcoming world premiere Chicago production of Boublil and Schönberg's The Pirate Queen, will return to Birdland June 26 and 27.

Block's new one-woman show is titled Block Party! and will be presented at the famed jazz club at 7 PM. Concertgoers can expect to hear a mix of Broadway tunes, standards, a ballad cut from Wicked and duets with her musical director Billy Stritch. Stephanie J. Block made her Broadway debut opposite Hugh Jackman in The Boy From Oz at the Imperial Theatre. She most recently starred in the national tour of Stephen Schwartz's Wicked, and her numerous regional theatre credits include Funny Girl, Oliver!, James Joyce's The Dead, The Grass Harp, Bells Are Ringing and I Love a Piano. Block was a 2002 L.A. Ovation Award nominee for her performance in Crazy For You.
