The DC opening for the Tony Award-winning revue of dances and musical numbers directed and choreographed by Bob Fosse is Dec. 6. A preview played Dec. 5.

The musical offers Fosse numbers recreated by longtime colleague-choreographers Ann Reinking, Chet Walker and artistic advisor, the late Gwen Verdon. DC is a special place for those who know the work of Fosse, whose work was punctuated with isolated moves, cocked limbs and muscular poses (in Chicago, Pippin, Damn Yankees, Big Deal, Sweet Charity, Dancin' and more). The director-choreographer died there in September 1987 after collapsing on the street from a heart attack during preparation for the Sweet Charity revival's national tour.

Reinking and Richard Maltby Jr. share directing credit on Fosse, and Reinking is co-choreographer, with Walker.

The musical won the 1999 Best Musical Tony Award. The tour of Fosse recently won Chicago's 2000 Joseph Jefferson Award for Best Non-Resident Production. The tour stars Reva Rice and Linda Bowen, and features Terace Jones, April Nixon and Josef Patrick Pescetto. The company includes Andrew Boyle, Mark Burrell, LaMae Caparas, Christine Colby Jacques, Dylis Croman, Janice Cronkhite, Rick Delancy, Anika Ellis, Aaron Felske, Laura Haney Gomez, Amy Hall, Tyler Hanes, Derric Harris, Sarah Jayne Jensen, James Kinney, Gelan Lambert, Jr., Cassel Miles, Kathryn Mowat Murphy, Vincent Sandoval, Jennifer Savelli, Mark Swanhart, Estelle Tomasovic and Steven Wenslawski. Numbers include "Life is Just a Bowl of Cherries", "Bye Bye Blackbird", "Big Spender", "Dancing in the Dark", "I Gotcha", "Mein Herr," "Steam Heat", "Take Off With Us," "There'll Be Some Changes Made," "Percussion 4", "Cool Hand Luke" and "Mr. Bojangles," among others.
