The project, written by Michael McDonald, is set in the future in a society where humans co-exist with mechanical androids that look like people but are treated like second-class citizens.
Conroy will play Lydia, whose late husband founded the firm that makes Mechanicals. The cast also includes James Murray and Patrick Heusinger (Next Fall, Fiddler on the Roof).
Conroy was nominated for a Tony Award in 2000 for her performance in The Ride Down Mt. Morgan. She has also been seen on Broadway in The Lady from Dubuque, Our Town, In the Summer House, Broken Glass, The Rehearsal and Ring Round the Moon, among others. Her television credits include "American Horror Story," "How I Met Your Mother" and "Six Feet Under."
