Among items found in the basement are letters dating back to the 1920s that were penned by grandparents, parents and uncles, including the late Williams.

In one letter Williams, the author of A Streetcar Named Desire and The Glass Menagerie, discussed the fickleness of fame, writing, "A reporter asked me how I explain all this resurgence and interest in my work. I said, 'Well, if you just hang on long enough, you are either forgotten or remembered too much.'"

Williams also wrote about his sister Rose, who was the inspiration for the character of Laura in Glass Menagerie. Discussing her struggles with schizophrenia, Williams wrote, "She is the bravest and sweetest person I have known in my life. Nothing is sufficient for the ordeals she has endured so gallantly."

Francesca Williams is also a writer and is currently working on a play that more deeply delves into the life of her late Aunt Rose, who eventually underwent a lobotomy.

"Once I started finding the memorabilia in the basement, the collection, I thought I can finally get to know Rose," she said.
