Film and stage star Frank Whaley will be featured in the Ensemble Studio Theatre's evening of four one-acts, Thicker Than Water. The show will begin previews at the Off-Off-Broadway company Jan. 19 for a Jan. 23 opening. The production will run until Feb. 6. Whaley has been seen in such films as "Pulp Fiction" and "Swimming with Sharks." He also wrote and directed the 1999 film "Joe the King." Whaley will appear with Francie Swift in Crystal Skillman's Tooth, about a first date which takes a dark turn. Abigail Zealey Bess directs.
The other one-acts in the evening include Amy Fox's Heights, starring Peter Rini, Sally Wheeler and Anderson Gabrych, directed by Jimmy Bohr; S. Vasanti Saxena's Baby Blue, starring Anne Newhall, Amy Staats, Marc Romeo and Michael Ryan Segal, directed by Rebecca VerNooy; and Jeremy Soule's Heartbreak of the Last Handwriting, starring Amy Love and Jason O'Leary, directed by Tomi Tsunoda.
