News 'Frasier''s Peri Gilpin Takes Over a Honey of a Role May 26 Peri Gilpin, who plays the sarcastic, oversexed Roz on television's "Frasier," will step into Alexa Vere de Vera's pumps for the summer, taking over the As Bees in Honey Drown role Off-Broadway from May 26 to July 12. Gilpin will begin taping the new season of "Frasier" in August.

Peri Gilpin, who plays the sarcastic, oversexed Roz on television's "Frasier," will step into Alexa Vere de Vera's pumps for the summer, taking over the As Bees in Honey Drown role Off-Broadway from May 26 to July 12. Gilpin will begin taping the new season of "Frasier" in August. J. Smith-Cameron, who originated the role of Alexa, left the show in April. She has been honored by the Drama League and nominated for a Drama Desk Award for her portrayal. Currently playing the part is Christine Neilsen.

Douglas Carter Beane's comedy opened Off-Broadway at the Lucille Lortel Theatre on July 24, 1997 after an initial run at the Greenwich House Theatre.
