The show takes place on the set of Nothing On, a wild English farce. Noises Off is about what happens backstage during rehearsal and production, a realm more farcical than the farce itself. A film starring Michael Caine, Christopher Reeve and Carol Burnett was made in 1992.

Directed by Terry McCabe, the Chicago mounting features Erin Carlson, Cameron Feagin, Page Hearn, Brian LeTraunik, Doug KacKechnie, Mary Poole, Brian Posen, George Seegebrecht, Sheila Willis, Darice DaMata Geiger and AnnMarie Parker. Designing the show are Jacqueline & Richard Penrod (set), Andrew Myers (lighting), Johnny Bash (sound) and Darice DaMata-Geiger (costumes).
