News Free Engagement of Crime or Emergency Begins at Soho Rep Jan. 11 Downtown artists Sibyl Kempson and Mike Iveson bring Crime or Emergency to Soho Rep for a limited engagement Jan. 11-13.

The free and open-to-the-public production of Crime or Emergency "distills Kempson's 11-person play into a rapturous, desperate and harried duet," according to production notes. "Inner personal violences take hold and multiply. Witness the life-or death hoo-ha that threatens to be swallowed whole by Iveson's demonic arrangements of the indigenous music of their native New Jersey."

John Collins is the directorial consultant for Crime or Emergency with Andi Stover serving as dramaturg.

Playwright and actress Sibyl Kempson has written and performed This Property is Bauhaus!, Bad Girls Good Writers, (In)Communicable and It's a Good Life If You Don't Weaken. Her upcoming film is titled "Spargel Time."

Mike Iveson has previously worked with cutting-edge dance innovator Sarah Michelson, as well as on PS 122's The Lucy Show and Ode to a Man Who Kneels.
