News   Free Reading of Bragen's Spuyten Duyvil Presented Dec. 8
The free Out Loud reading series, presented by The Underwood Theater and Ars Nova, continues Dec. 8 with Spuyten Duyvil.

Andy Bragen's play will be presented at 7 PM at the intimate Ars Nova Theater. Directed by James Abar, the cast for the one-night-only reading is set to include Guy Boyd, Denis Butkus, Corinne Colón and Tommy Schrider. Spuyten Duyvil, according to production notes, concerns the lives of Buddy Starlight and Lisa Martinez, who are "struggling to keep their heads above water in the face of demanding relationships and difficult ambitions. . . [and] find that their only hope lies in each other. Now they must come to terms with the dangerous desires and appetites that have come to define them before they tear themselves and each other apart."

Playwright Bragen currently attends Brown University's MFA playwriting program. His play Greater Messapia was presented at Queens Theatre in the Park in March 2004. Honors include a 2004 EST/Sloan Commission, a 2003 New Voices Fellowships from EST and a 2001-2002 Dramatists Guild Fellowship.

Although the reading is free, reservations are required by calling (212) 977- 1700. All Out Loud readings are held at the Ars Nova Theater, located at 511 West 54th Street, west of Tenth Avenue.
