News Free Reading of Michael Kassin's Face Offered April 7 in NYC Arts and Artists at St. Paul's will present a special free reading of the new play Face April 7.

John Znidarsic will direct the reading of Michael Kassin's play, which was inspired by the 1978 investigation of the Shroud of Turin, the alleged burial cloth of Jesus Christ. The play concerns one of the scientists who challenged the investigation. According to production notes, the title refers to "the Face on the cloth, the effort to test and unmask it, and what the testing does to a cynical nuclear scientist — a member of the original Manhattan Project (the A-Bomb) — who is part of the team." (A 1986 Broadway musical called Into the Light used the Shroud of Turin investigation as a backdrop.)

The reading will feature the talents of Angelynn Cerridwen, Sean Guerin, H. Clark Kee, Anne Pasquale and Tom Spackman. Show time is 7:30 PM.

The Church of St. Paul the Apostle Parish Center is located at 405 W. 59th St, between 9th and 10th Avenues. Admission is free; call (212) 265-3495, ext. 218 for reservations.
