News Free Reading of New Musical Allies, Featuring Songs of Heart, to Be Presented Jan. 26 A new rock musical entitled Allies, which features the songs of the popular music group Heart, will receive a public reading in Manhattan Jan. 26.

The musical features a book by actress Celina Carvajal (Tarzan, Radiant Baby) and Maggie F. Levin.

The free 9 PM performance at the Zipper Factory will boast the talents of Carvajal, Brian Charles Rooney (Threepenny Opera) and Chris Hall (Twist). Ryan Bogner will read stage directions.

The evening will feature musical direction by Scissor Sisters arranger and pianist Paul Leschen and direction by Samuel Buggeln.

Allies, according to press notes, is "a raw, concert-style musical about a love triangle that rocks the lives of a brother & sister. Gabby & Chris Ford are as close as struggling twenty-something siblings can be, when their bond is blown apart by the seductive – and secretive – Matt Rhode. Part live rock show - complete with roadies changing the set and a kickass lead axe – and part heartstring-plucking drama, Allies features the songs of the legendary band Heart, including hits like 'Barracuda,' 'These Dreams,' 'Crazy On You' and 'Alone.'"

Allies reunites Caraval, Rooney, Hall, Bogner, Leschen and Buggeln, all of whom were involved in the award-winning New York Musical Theatre Festival production of Bedbugs!!! Reservations for the free reading are available by visiting alliesthemusical.com. The Zipper Factory is located at 336 West 37th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues.
